Vang, Tou-Fu Age 76, of Woodbury, MN, died peacefully on November 26, 2020. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by spouse, 7 children, 14 grandchildren, 8 sisters and 10 brothers. Lieutenant Colonel Tou-Fu Vang was born December 25, 1943 in Laos. He taught Social Science and English; joined the Lao army to fight against communist forces; graduated from Iowa State University; retired from the Dept. of Health and Human Services in Chicago; and made Minnesota home. His last years were dedicated to helping Hmong veterans gain recognition in the Vietnam War as an American ally. He never forgot Laos and advocated more political freedom and human rights there. War hero, military leader, teacher, sprinter and soccer player. A tireless leader in resettlement of refugees from Southeast Asia. Compassion, humility, courage and sacrifice begin to define him. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed running, fishing and hiking. He was just as happy reading about current events and history. Due to the pandemic, a private Christian service was held Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Oakland Cemetery, St. Paul, where he was buried. Tou-Fu was surrounded by family members and friends.
